Yoghurt the unlikely beauty multi-tasker

In this day and age, when going natural is the buzz, foods are increasingly being integrated into our beauty routines. And yoghurt is a star ingredient.
TIP
1

Yoghurt, oily skin's BFF

It contains water, lipids, proteins, nutrients and humectants (auch as lactose and amino acids), making yoghurt a fabulous beauty booster! It traps moisture on the surface of the skin and regulates excess sebum, so it's great for tightening pores, refining skin texture and removing blackheads. Mixed in with a spoonful of honey, you can apply to open pores and leave for 15 minutes for impressive results.

2

Yoghurt, a gentle exfoliator

Yoghurt contains lactic acid, which is an excellent, gentle, grain-free exfoliator. No need to scrub, as its natural acids will remove dead skin cells and sebum. Mix half a pot of yogurt with a few drops of lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey, apply it to your face (no need to rub it in) and leave it on for 15 minutes. Result: clean, silky smooth skin!

3

Yoghurt to combat liver spots

Being a dairy product, yoghurt contains acids that can lighten dark liver spots caused by age and exposure to the sun. The 'good' bacteria in yoghurt contain enzymes capable of breaking down proteins such as melanin. Apply a mixture of yoghurt and lemon juice for ten minutes and watch your liver spots fade! Something to do once or twice a week.

Yoghurt to revive dull hair

Yoghurt won't replace a shampoo, but it does nourish fragile hair and will leave you with glossy locks! Whip up several spoonfuls of yoghurt, apply the frothy mixture to damp hair for 20 minutes and then rinse off.
